Your Home Heating Inspection Checklist
An annual home heating inspection is critical for the top performance of your HVAC and the ultimate home comfort for your family. These inspections serve to improve the efficiency of the HVAC system and keep you safe all throughout the winter.
But your family’s comfort ultimately depends on much more than just how well your furnace works. The heating system is comprised of pipes or ducts that distribute heat throughout your home; thermostats that control when the burner fires; and the insulation, windows, and doors of your house which provide the context. Fall is the perfect time to assess all of it.
All types of heating systems must be checked, from home heating oil, oil-fired hot water boilers, baseboard heating, oil-fueled forced-air systems, etc. At Point Bay Fuel, we offer the Gold Plan package that covers many things that typically go wrong with your system and includes an annual tune-up to increase your system’s longevity and efficiency.

Parts may become defective due to normal use or wear and tear over time, so our professional technicians will repair or replace during the life of this plan any of the following parts up to $200.00 per part. There are no extra charges for emergency repairs on covered items no matter when you call us during the heating season.
Annual Tune-Up Checklist
An annual tune-up will be performed once during the Gold Plan term during regular working hours and includes the following:
- Test and adjust oil burner for maximum efficiency, using combustion testing equipment.
- Clean and check electrodes and nozzle assembly.
- Install customer-supplied air filters. We supply oil filter cartridge and burner nozzle, if necessary.
- Oil all motors on burner, fans and circulators.
- Vacuum clean furnace and flue pipe, including chimney base (where accessible), as necessary.
- Check all safety and operating controls.
Be Prepared for Anything
With the hot and humid high-temps behind us, and the chilly New Jersey winter low temps still yet to come, now is the perfect time to have your furnace tuned-up. Because, with our historic “snowtober” storm in 2011 that smashed records, Mother Nature has told us that anything’s possible.
Are you prepared?
It’s best to have professional tune-ups completed before the start of winter but there are also some things you can do yourself to prepare your heating system for the cold weather. See our blog for more DIY information such as how to eliminate air leaks and improve air flow.
So, instead of waiting to see if something is going to break and then trying to find out what to do about it when you’re in the middle of a cold-snap, how about choosing preventative maintenance for your heating system. Ensure you and your family are protected during the coldest months ahead with your annual Point Bay Fuel home heating inspection. Our service technicians are also available 24/7 for any heating emergency. Just give us a call at 732-349-5059.
