Springtime Heating Oil Delivery

At Point Bay Fuel, there is no reason to worry about when the next order is coming in or monitoring the fuel levels during the cold months. Our trained professionals at Point Bay can be called to come in and measure the levels, as well as provide automatic deliveries throughout winter. Scheduling automatic home heating oil deliveries is a great way to keep current with the structural status of the aboveground or underground heating tank as well as monitor fuel levels.
In the spring, if your fuel oil tank partially empty, it will leave room for water to condense which can cause big problems when next winter rolls around. This empty space allows moisture in, which will allow bacteria to grow, resulting in black sludge (a leading factor in many heating system breakdowns). These breakdowns can indeed be costly, so make sure to take the proper precautions now to save you money, time and worry later!
Providing State-of-the-Art Technologies to Keep You Comfy All Year
In the winter, Point Bay uses the latest technology in heating oil delivery by incorporating simple calculations and software called the Degree Day System. We take the age and history of the home and oil tank, the computer software will then conclude the best time to make an automatic delivery. The calculations are done by outside temperatures divided by two and subtracting 65 from the sum. These mathematical calculations are typically done daily and then combined to your k-factor.
A k-factor essentially means “degree days per gallon.” Depending on the highs and lows of the temperatures, it determines how much oil will be used. It may take 2 or 3 times for your calculations to conclude the most accurate k-factor. Once this is calculated, deliveries will then be made routinely based on this. It’s important to note that a heating oil delivery will not be made if the tank doesn’t need the oil, unlike other companies. This will save the homeowner time and money.
